Tiny Cabins on unique locations where your furry friends are welcome

Dog Friendly Tiny Cabins

Most of our locations are active farms with livestock, and that generally means that no pets are allowed. However we’re happy to say that we have four incredible locations that welcome dogs!

We’re always trying to add more dog-friendly locations, so check back regularly or join our mailing list to be kept in the loop.

Dog FAQ and T&Cs

Why aren’t all your locations dog friendly?

Whilst we would love all locations to welcome dogs, most of our locations are on active farms with livestock. Outside/unknown dogs are a danger to animals such as sheep, lambs, cows and their calves. We love dogs, but we understand & respect the need for serious caution when it comes to unknown pets on working land.

What’s the big deal with dogs on farms?

Farmers often don’t like seeing dogs they don’t know on their property. This is because animals are sometimes unpredictable, and small incidents such as a dog barking at a herd of cows can have big consequences! Herds of sheep or cows have been known to break through fencing & cause serious or fatal traffic accidents, not to mention the devastating financial loss to the farmers who are already working hard to ensure their future is secure.

But every farmer has a dog why can’t I bring mine?

You’re right, farm dogs are very common! Farm dogs are generally introduced slowly to the livestock & land, and trained to work the land with the farmer from a young age. The livestock on the farm will be used to the farmer’s dogs and vice versa – they know each other very well & know what to expect, so the risk of incident or loss is significantly less than a non-working dog that is not trained in farm life or unknown to the livestock.

My dog is tiny, it would never harm even a chicken!

Even a very small dog can frighten a flock of sheep and send them the wrong way, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damages. The most gentle & well behaved of dogs can sometimes react unexpectedly to situations they haven’t experienced before. This is not the fault of your dog! Barking and similar behaviour is how dogs communicate, but it can cause serious issues when a herd of livestock is involved.

Why has the dog friendly cabin changed since I made my booking? Can I still bring my dog?

From time to time we have to re-designate our dog friendly cabin on a specific location. This is due to operational changes on the farm that are out of our control. For example, the landowner may need to relocate his livestock from one paddock to another. In any case don’t worry as you will be re-allocated to the current dog friendly cabin, and we will reach out to communicate any changes.
